Sylvania LED Lamp
$59.95
LED bulbs never needs changing and uses much less energy than regular bulbs. It is more gentle on the environment (no mercury or toxic gas). It can withstand lots of moving around. It’s handsome!
Holy cow! This is the best purchase I’ve made in 2006! If you do not have one, you must run out and get one now! I can’t believe it took me THIS long to discover it. (Thanks again, ThisNext and the 32 recommenders!) My house has never been so dust-tree. My floors never this clean. My allergies have improved dramatically. My cleaning lady thanks ThisNext too.
I purchased the model iRobot 4210, which seemed the most current and best model. Amazon’s pricing was the most competitive. The negative customer feedback on Amazon were mostly about Roomba’s customer service and the potential one-year lifespan. (Sounds like it has the same issues as the iPod. Battery life seems a tad weak.)
The most amusing part of getting the Roomba was watching Alex follow this thing around the house for two hours. (I’m not exxagerating.) Then again the next day for two hours. He now has the virtual door mechanism set up and moves his new new best friend around the house every 4 hours or so. He can forget about it too, because guess what? When this thing runs out of juice, it recharges itself. Yes! It does this weird robotic walk thing and docks itself back to its charger. I think this is spooky, but Alex thinks it’s very cool.
Now, if I can teach this thing to climb couches…
EcoDesign is a dandy book with lots of resources for green products and material. If you’re at all into green living, this is a good source book to have around.
