mood cush

rei%20huggable%20led%20pillows%20image.png

I don’t think one can actually ‘read’ using this pillow (gives me reader’s headache just looking at the bad example shown in above image), but it does combine mood lighting and cush into one product. Pillows are filled with silicon bean bags containing LED lights and can be powered by four AA batteries or an adapter. Glow lasts 4 hours, plus 2 hours of fading light. I think it’s quite cool, and the silicon LED treatment is quite clever. Additional shapes would be nice.  I’m sure I’ll end up with a few in my house eventually (note it’s on my wish list), so I’ll report back when I get my hands on some.

Rei Huggable, $160, available at Charles & Marie.

Ottoman Sofa Bed

bo_concept_sofa_bed_ottoman.jpg

From Bo Concept, this ottomon folds out to become a framed sofa bed. It’s brilliant design. This is so much better than the cush pads that fold out as floor beds. It’s more surprising it’s only $700.  You know this will be in my home soon.

Sustainable Dog Houses

sustainable_dog_houses_pens_red_barn_oakland.jpg

My friend Aaron was over the other night and kept bugging me about “Hey, you have to look at my friend Stephanie’s site. She makes great sustainable dog houses.” Being a product person, I get this a lot. So, naturally, I was invisibly rolling my eyes as I walked to the computer to check out her site, SustainablePet.com.

Awesome stuff. I love the hard architectural elements of the structures integrated with the soft beauty of the plants. Not just a pretty doggie digg, Oakland designer Stephanie Rubin thought this out well. She designed the units to smell good, grow plants, attract butterflies, filter water, insulate, and repel fleas. All naturally.

However, at $6,000 (that’s for the extra large, and I have two so make that $12,000), I’m not sure I would let my dogs near one.
